EXCITING NEWS FOR ALL OUR DIVERS

Sharene & Chris from Daktari Sport, Port Fairy Surf & Dive, Daktari Cycles, and Devil Diving along with Trevor & Sonja Gould from Hamilton are pleased to announce they have recently purchased the Shipwreck Coast “Dive Inn” dive shop in Warrnambool, located at 453 Raglan Parade, Warrnambool (the one with the comically ugly diver mannequin out the front) and will officially take over on 7th June 2010. We see this as a great opportunity to connect with our shipwreck coast diving community. Watch this space for details of our grand opening. WOW – What a summer………..

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Hi everyone,

What a summer it has been. First Christmas – we trust everyone had a safe and enjoyable one, then soaring temperatures over January made people flock to our beaches, especially Port Fairy and of course as we all know there was the “Black Saturday” bushfires. We at Daktari, Bindy, Devil Diving and Port Fairy Surf extend our sincerest condolences to anyone and everyone who has been affected by these fires – it is always a critical time over the hot summer months but then to have arsonists joining in to make it our worst summer ever…well what can you say? It leaves you bewildered and angered…..we certainly hope the rest of 2009 is brighter for everyone. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the fire victims, fire fighters and all emergency personnel throughout the coming weeks as they mop up and face the long task ahead.

Please mark your calendars – March 1st is Clean Up Australia Day and once again, we at Port Fairy Surf & Dive/Devil Diving will be coordinating clean up activities at both South Beach/Pea Soup and East Beach on the day. We need volunteers for all areas and you can either register online at www.cleanup.com.au or you can come into Port Fairy Surf Shop at 33 Bank Street, Port Fairy. You can also register on the day at the meeting points prior to the start of the clean up. Children under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.

Divers are needed for South Beach bay to assist in cleaning up all the discarded beer bottles, tennis balls and rubbish that has accumulated over the past 12 months. Divers must show proof of certification and recent log book history showing dives within last 6 months.

Volunteers for beach and land clean up are needed for all sites. Registration for divers and beach clean up for South Beach/pea Soup will take place at the rear of Port Fairy Surf Shop starting at 9.45am on the morning of 1st March. Registration for East Beach and surrounds will take place on the grass area outside the surf club starting at 10am.

Any questions or concerns may be directed to Sharene on 0433 755 553 or 5568 2800.

Happy 2009!

We will supply garbage bags for rubbish and recycling, gloves and tongs. There will also be a sharps container available but so far we have not had the need for this in Port Fairy – let’s hope it stays that way.

New look Bindy store

Saturday, November 8th, 2008

Earlier this week on Melbourne Cup Day Simone (Bindy Surf Chick), James (Daktari) and Sharene (Devil Diving) took the opportunity to give Bindy Surf Chick a total revamp. Our aim was to make the store more customer friendly, more inviting, a fun place to shop and to give it a real beach/surfie feel. We are pleased to announce that the revamp is now complete and Bindy Surf Chick has a fresh new look! We invite you to come in and check out what we have done with the store – come and see our private beach area, and our all new Bindy Girls fashion section catering for the littlies. We have a new Backpack wall and a fabulous thong collage – Bindy is a fun place to shop and Simone would love you to come in and say hi.

Feel that sun

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

How good is it to feel the heat in the sun at last during the school holidays, especially after the cold weather we have experienced over the past few weeks. Heaps of kids out on their skate decks enjoying the burst of sunshine. The water is still a little chilly but ok if you have a full steamer to keep you warm. Booties are a good option at the moment for those keen enough to brave the cold water.
