Bio Reef Bali

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

We recently returned from Bali where we had the opportunity to travel up to Pemuteran and do some Scuba Diving. We did two dives, both with Bali Hi Dive Academy and one of the dives we did was on the new Bio Rock project. The Bio Rock is an Australian government funded project teaching local fisherman to establish man-made coral reefs to replace the ones damaged through bleaching and blasting to help preserve the underwater environment for future generations. It was extremely interesting and the locals were very passionate about the project. We will be publishing a booklet shortly which will be available for a small fee and the proceeds will go towards maintaining this project. For a small fee you can actually sponsor a piece of coral and have your name placed on one of the underwater structures. It’s pretty cool. For more information watch this space..

Feel that sun

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

How good is it to feel the heat in the sun at last during the school holidays, especially after the cold weather we have experienced over the past few weeks. Heaps of kids out on their skate decks enjoying the burst of sunshine. The water is still a little chilly but ok if you have a full steamer to keep you warm. Booties are a good option at the moment for those keen enough to brave the cold water.
